Rebecca Storey

Rebecca was born in Hull in 1979, she grew up on the edge of Hull in a small village surrounded by fields and spent most of her childhood playing in ditches, going on walks in the country side, collecting fossils and buildings dens. This environment fuelled her imagination and made the perfect back drop for the imaginary lands she invented with her sister. It was here she developed an early interest in Ceramics watching her next door neighbour in his studio over the fence.

Her interest developed into a full blown passion during her 3 year degree at Coventry University where she specialised in Ceramics on an Art and Craft course. Coventry was a stark contrast from the environment she was used to living in. The adjustment to living in a city and away from nature inspired her to bring the imaginary lands of her childhood to life. She began to create a Ceramic City an alternative fantasy reality to hide amongst.

This theme still runs through her work today and is the inspiration behind a large collection of ceramic houses, buildings, factories, machines, people and creatures.

She is now living in Nottingham were she continues to develop her collection from a shared studio. She sells her work through galleries, fairs, local exhibitions and on line.
